Over 500 labels of wines and whiskies from all over the world will be on showcase at the fourth edition of 1855 The Bottle Shop’s Wine and Whisky Week. From 1 to 12 November, the fair held at Suntec City offers complimentary tastings of their offerings, which encompasses sparkling wines, cask-strength whiskies and even new-to-market releases such as Beam Suntory’s Roku Gin, Macallan Edition No. 3, and the limited edition Freixenet Cordon Negro Brut Cava. Pick up some value-for-money purchases that include Bordeaux best-sellers in bundle deals just in time for the festive season. For every $200 spent, not only will you get a chance to win a prize from the “Sure-win Spin & Win” wheel game, you’ll also get one entry to a lucky draw where the ultimate winner gets over 30 bottles of wines and spirits, valued at over $3,000! On the weekends, brush up on your wine and spirits knowledge through masterclasses helmed by industry experts. Brought to you by the folks of Destination Beverages, the second edition of Rasa Fiesta Singapura takes place over the first weekend of November, at Picnic in Wisma Atria. On display will be over 100 brands of rum – Don Papa, Chalong Bay, Sailor Jerry, Mount Gay Rum, Ron Abuelo, Brugal Añejo, and many more – that you can enjoy in the form of thirst-quenching cocktails. Get 1 cocktail for $10, 6 drinks for $50, or – if your liver holds up – 12 tipples for $90. Pool together a group of 5 friends and RSVP here to enjoy a complimentary tray of 5 cocktails. Celebrate all things craft at the three-day ALT MKT – no prizes for guessing what it’s short for. This alternative market by the folks at Temple Cellars will feature 250 unique appellations of craft beer, artisan sakes, minimal intervention wines, and small batch spirits up for tastings. Tasting sessions will happen daily between 12-3pm and 5-8pm; the rest of the days see masterclasses led by industry experts. Learn about the nuances of sake brewing, production, and appreciation while sampling iconic cult sake Juyondai; or take a journey through the world of organic wines with tipples from Austria, South Africa, and Australia. And if you’re still looking to stock up your bar for the festive season, bottles will be available for purchase at up to 25% off retail prices. Need some food to pair with your drinks? On site to feed festival-goers are the good people of smokehouse Meat Smith and mobile oyster bar, The Oyster Cart.

Everybody’s favourite whisky festival returns for its eighth edition this November. As South East Asia’s largest and premier whisk(e)y and spirits show, Whisky Live 2017 offers an updated and more immersive experience from previous years. Held at the grounds of Theatreworks, a pre-war a heritage building that was once a rice warehouse on Mohamed Sultan Road and next to the Singapore River, the show’s highlights include an exhibition showcasing showcase whisk(e)y and spirit art through the years, from label design, marketing art to bottle craft; the launch of Nikka Coffey Gin and Vodka in Asia (outside of Japan), 25 YO Old Pulteney and a vintage 1983 Old Pulteney; as well as an exciting cocktail and food trail. Prepare to sampling more than 50 brands and 150 expressions of whiskies and spirits, while leaving room for innovative tipples from cocktail booths and tasty bites to go with your drinks. Masterclasses for brands such as Nikka, Bruichladdich & Octomore, Kavalan, Glenlivet, and more are also available; but with just 30 seats to each class, you’d better sign up fast! Two of the top bars from Australia, Boilermaker House and The Baxter Inn will be doing guest shifts at La Maison Du Whisky from 9pm till late over the Whisky Live weekend.

November drinks: Gin Jubilee 2016 Brooklyn Gin Salon Session

After three years of staging the annual Gin Jubilee in Singapore, Asia’s premier gin festival finally went regional last year. This year, they’ve kicked into high gear, having staged Gin Jubilees in Auckland, Kuala Lumpur, Phnom Penh and Hong Kong. This November, they’ll head to Shanghai before ending the year-long festivities off with a bang back here in Singapore, from 27 November to 3 December 2017. Expect a multi-day series of gin-related activities, from gin tastings and masterclasses, to brand pop-ups and special gin drinks at bars across the country. Bartenders from the other Gin Jubilee cities who won their respective “Best Gin & Tonic” competition will travel to Singapore to compete for the ultimate title of “Asia’s Best Gin & Tonic” at the jubilee grand finale. Gin Jubilee 2017 will culminate in the highly-anticipated Gin Lane street party, so keep a look out for when the details are announced in the coming weeks.
