Singapore Cocktail Festival is the biggest cocktail event in Southeast Asia.

Singapore Cocktail Festival, the biggest cocktail event of Southeast Asia, is back by popular demand. On the agenda: drinks, drinks, and more drinks. This time, the festival is aiming to educate as well is inebriate, with its 2018 theme: “Taste, Learn, Play”. No, the festival hasn’t turned into an academic course overnight, but it has brought in elements like interactive workshops to give festival-goers a better understanding of their favourite tipple. The island-wide event will be launched at Empress Green on 4 May 18, and end on 13 May 18.

Given the disarmingly wide array of things to do, we figured that it might be helpful to have a guide through all that alcoholic goodness. We’re also running a giveaway for a pair of tickets (worth $168) that include entry to the event, a free cocktail set and a “passport” for special drink prices in bars all around Singapore.

2. Eat. Drink. Taste.

The Festival Village will be bringing back a staple of last year’s event – Artisanal Spirits Tasting Room, which gives festival-goers a chance to taste unique, handcrafted spirits such as the Black Cow Vodka, the world’s only Pure Milk Vodka made entirely from the milk of grass-grazed cows; as well as Mekhong, The Spirit of Thailand, which is created through a secret production process that has been passed down for generations. On top of that, festival-goers will get to interact with the distillers and producers to find out more about their favourite drink.

On the Food Street, dive into delicious bites prepared by restaurants such as Ninja Bowl and Ninja Cut, which focus on fuss-free unique grain bowls; Sinfonia Ristorante (previously known as FOO’D), which serves up exquisite Italian dishes, as well as the newly-opened 醉 红 楼 (Zui Hong Lou), which will be serving everything from Chinese steamed buns to Deep Fried Shrimp Paste Chicken.

Lots of pop-up bars will be available at Singapore Cocktail Festival 2018.

3. Watch the pros. Or mix things up yourself.

Enjoy the adrenaline-pumping spectacle that is the Asia Bar Battle Presented by City Nomads, where bartending teams from Singapore, Vietnam, Malaysia, and more take on cocktail invention, speed and mystery ingredient challenges to come out on top as the cocktail kings of Southeast Asia.

If the pumping exhilaration of contests gets too much to handle, festival-goers might want to consider the various Festival Workshops at the Festive Village:

  • Kyrö Distillery Company’s Gin Blending Workshop teaches the intricacies of gin-making and provides a chance for participants to bring their unique concoction home.
  • TGIF (Thank God Its Fermented) workshop offers a close up look at the history of fermentation in society and how this age old technique has made its way into the bars around the world. Led by guest bartender Sasha Wijidessa of Operation Dagger.
