George Orwell might’ve popularised the phrase “Four legs good, two legs bad”; but if you ask us, we’ll add “Eight legs best”. That is, when we are talking about the partaking of Singaporean’s favourite crustacean, the crab.
And if you are looking to indulge in a crabby feast, head on down to PARKROYAL on Kitchener Road’s Spice Brasserie between Thursdays to Sundays or on the eve of and on public holidays, and prepare to get your hands dirty. Their popular Endless Crabs Party buffet dinner is back till 31 July 2017, featuring the crustacean in 12 different flavours.
Executive chef Low Hoe Kiat brings to the line-up eight new crab flavours including the special Wok Fried Crab in Wu Jia Pi Wine. The recipe of this heirloom dish has been passed down through generations of Low’s family, so unless you get a personal invitation to join in a family reunion, this is the only place where you can sample this herbal and fragrant crab creation. Wok fried with dang gui, wolfberries and medicinal wine made from the eleutherococcus bark, the crab is then flambeed to reduce the alcohol and release the flavours.
Living up to its name of Spice Brasserie, the all-day dining restaurant has also cooked up some fiery crab creations for the buffet dinner. Brave the heat and have a go at Stir Fried Crab with Asian Spices redolent of dried shrimp, ginger garlic, onion, curry leaves and chilli padi; as well as Stir Fried Crab with Jalapeno.
Do save some stomach space for other highlights like the Rock Salt Baked Crab, Steamed Crab in Chinese Wine and a dish back by popular demand, the Crab Bee Hoon!
