The newest addition in their snowskin mooncake line-up promises to please the health-conscious. Bite into the pastel green Avocado and Yuzu Snow-skin Mooncakes ($72 for 8 pieces) and enjoy a burst of refreshing mango and yuzu flavours, mixed with creamy avocado textures and balanced with flaxseeds. Other returning flavours include the all-time favourite Champagne Truffle Snow-skin ($78 for 8 pieces), Earl Grey Tea and Pearl Snow-skin, Cognac Truffle Snow-skin and Açaí Berry and Chia Seeds Snow-skin mooncakes ($76 for 8 pieces).

In their range of baked mooncakes, expect the perennial signature Double Yolk with Macadamia Nuts and, for the healthier option, Pine Nuts, Macadamia Nuts and White Lotus Paste Mooncake.

Two new baked mooncake flavours take centre stage this year in JW Marriott Singapore South Beach’s collaboration with Madame Fan. Look out for the Blueberry Mooncake, set to take you on a nostalgic trip back to childhood as you savour its berry sweetness, and the new Premium Mixed Nuts Mooncake with a mixture of the finest pecans and almonds in the woody spice perfume of cinnamon.

Of their returning range, the Signature Pu’er Tea Mooncake has been revamped with the addition of chia seeds. Their exquisitely handcrafted snowskin creations highlight the all-new Signature Tian Mi Mi – a mooncake rendition of the well-loved cocktail from Madame Fan Bar – swathed in a white chocolate shell filled with spiced whisky, ambrosial honey and zesty mandarin packed in a ganache. Available from 6 August to 13 September 2019, Peach Blossoms at Marina Mandarin Singapore, by Meritus once again rolls out their mooncake collection and this year they have unveiled a new flavour: Caramel Lotus Paste with Sea Salt and Macadamia Nuts. This new flavour offers a myriad of familiar tastes with the added crunch from the light macadamia. Their signature Charcoal Black Sesame Paste with Melon Seeds and Gold Dust now comes in a mini version as well, and it comes with egg yolk.

A classy two-tiered box is also offered by the hotel: a mini clothes chest structure with a top flap and bottom drawer with the Meritus insignia on its knob. This box houses 4-6 individually packed mooncakes. If you’re looking to get less than that, a Double Happiness single-tier box would be your choice, with 2 mooncakes to go with it.

This year, Xin Cuisine at Holiday Inn Singapore Atrium offers two new snowskin mooncake flavours with their modern take on this traditional delight. Wind up with the nightlife-inspired White Lotus Seed Paste with Singapore Sling Praline Snowskin Mooncake, a refreshing burst of sweet, fruity flavour that is gentle enough to be consumed as an office snack! Michelin-Starred Jiang-Nan Chun revives its perennial favourites alongside new, limited edition snowskin mooncakes this year. The baked Silver Lotus Paste range (with Melon Seed/Single Yolk/Double Yolk) makes a comeback with the Smoked Duck with Assorted Nuts and Lime inspired by Jiang-Nan Chun’s signature Peking Duck. Silver Lotus requires a lower quantity of oil and sugar to create the paste, making it a healthier option for all ages.

New on the snowskin namelist is the tropical Passion Fruit with Dried Mango, a refreshing addition that is tangy with a dash of sweetness. Also a highlight not to be missed is the Bird’s Nest with Custard – a rare combination and an even rarer flavour for a mooncake. Among the many species of durian, the Mao Shan Wang might just be the most coveted, and Four Seasons Hotel Singapore pleases with their smooth and creamy Mao Shan Wang Durian Snowskin Mooncake. In commemoration of the Legend of Chang’E, Si Chuan Dou Hua Restaurant launches a cast of baked low-sugar treats. A newcomer but certain to-be crowd-pleaser in Si Chuan Dou Hua’s baked mooncake line-up this year is the refreshing Red Bean Paste with Preserved Orange Peel Mooncake. Orange peel is the understated prince of refreshing tastes. Fragrant and zesty, these little chewy bits in the mooncake make for an incredible taste profile that balances out the thick, moderately sweet red bean paste.

Expect the pre-existing low-sugar mooncakes as well, including the Charcoal White Lotus Seed Paste Mooncake with Macadamia Nuts.
